PM Thaksin Shinawatra on the Southern terrorists: [Matichon, June 26, 2005]
“อีกหน่อยไม่มีใคร มันก็ฆ่าพ่อฆ่าแม่มันแล้วล่ะ”
“Soon there will be nobody [left], [and] they’ll be killing their own parents.”
It’s not necessary. It probably won’t help. But it expresses well — and in a very Thai way — many people’s frustration with wanton violence in the South, a frustration Chairman of the National Reconciliation Commission Anand Panyarachun has so far failed even to register, let alone to reconcile. It’s as if beheadings and bombs were to him the only proofs of legitimate grievances.
PS At least Khun Anand is consistent, having given an interview about 9/11 that would have made Mahathir proud.
