FM 92.25 — Democracy Frequency™ | 2.03.06
Back in November 2004, the Bangkok Post’s film critic Kong Rithdee lauded Fahrenheit 9/11:
Michael Moore dispels the myth of journalistic objectivity by disparaging George W. Bush and his associates with uninhibited disgust, mixing satirical humour with passages of sombre reflection in order to prove his hypothesis — and reach a conclusion that just about everyone has long agreed on: that Bush Jr is nothing but a war-mongering moron.
Of course, a savvy sophisticate that he is, Khun Kong gingerly concedes that Moore “relies more on his gung-ho personality than on any pursuit of the veracity of his revelations”. But that’s a minor flaw for a film that, as he puts it, “plants it heart firmly in the right place”. At the very end, he turns his attention to local politics:
Could we see a Thai remake before the upcoming general election here by any chance?
No wonder some people think the Bangkok Post is pro-Thaksin. Why settle for Fahrenheit 9/11 when you can have the Protocols of the Elders of Zion? The Thai social scum sure needs as strong an antidote as possible to shake them out of ignorance.
And who better to spread this truth than FM 92.25 a “community radio” backed by a bankrupt company founder (not Sondhi, another one) and endorsed by the Reporters Sans Frontières? Here are some facts that an “intelligence officer” named Arkom revealed on the talk show by “academic” Saman Sringam: [Jump to 5:00]
- The US is preparing to attack China from the Udonthani airbase leased from Thaksin (with Singapore as the agent).
- China has responded by mobilizing 250,000 troops to the Thai-Burmese border.
- Chinese nuclear warheads, stationed only 270 kilometers from the border, are now trained on Thailand because of Thaksin’s collaboration with the Americans.
- The US will use the Thaicom satellites to direct China-bound missiles. The CIA is assembling necessary equipment in India.
- US troops are now mobilized to the Afghan-Chinese border.
- All of the Thaicom satellites are built with American money for espionage purposes with commercial uses as a front.
- Every Thai email hosted by Hotmail is cached and stored in a server at the Shin Corp building.
- Following a meeting between Thaksin and Bill Gates, Microsoft hacked the system and provided Thaksin with a secure channel for fund transfer to Singapore.
- The entire China now runs Linux, having destroyed all copies of Windows with steamrollers. Thailand remains a slave to Microsoft because of Thaksin.
- AIS’s purchase HP Superdome, among the top 300 fastest computers in the world, allows it to tap every cell phone connection in the country.
“Arkom” has more goodies on his website, including the obligatory plan for Thaksin to crown himself president.
A tad over the top, perhaps, but Arkom plants his heart firmly in the right place.
In any case, we should always keep an open mind and uphold the freedom of speech (which of course comes with a responsibility to be on the right side.)
