Banjerd who? | 25.03.06
My letter in today’s Postbag (whose online version I can’t seem to find):
Dear Editor,
Contrary to your report (March 20), the name of the Thammasat law professor who compared Prime Minister Thaksin unfavorably with Hitler is actually Banjerd Singkaneti. If the error had eluded you earlier, it should not have when you published the Embassy of Israel’s and Dom Dunn’s letters denouncing the imaginary Banjerd Sinthudecha. A quick look at Thammasat faculty of law’s website will reveal not only Mr. Banjerd’s name in Thai and English, but also that he got his advanced degree in Germany.
Thailand’s best-known Sinthudecha is Sunee Sinthudecha, a rare Thaksin supporter in the so-called academia. The Bangkok Post owes her and her family an apology.
