Down, but not out | 26.09.06
No, they haven’t yet thrown me in jail for posing a threat to national security. From what I hear about the fun, new martial law currently in place, the penalty for this kind of internet-based conspiracy (as opposed to a real one with tanks on the streets) is a prison term of up to five years, subject to the free and fair judgment of the military tribunal. Whether the junta will actually enforce this draconian measure or simply brandish it to scare people into self-censorship, don’t you even think of calling it “authoritarian”, “repressive”, or “ironfisted”. I’ve checked the World Media’s Style Guide, those terms are reserved for Thaksin only as far as Thailand is concerned.
I’ll be back on Sunday.
